The Museum’s annual Garden Luncheon is one of our most joyful and beloved events as we welcome spring with flowers, food, and fancy hats!
Gather your friends and join us Friday, June 14 for a day of garden-centered delights – a delectable lunch under the tent, a raffle to please every green thumb, and a dynamic speaker.

Join us to hear celebrated poet and biographer Molly Peacock tell stories from Flower Diary: In Which Mary Hiester Reid Paints, Travels, Marries & Opens a Door. In this sumptuous biography, Peacock looks at the balancing act of female creativity and domesticity in the life of Mary Hiester Reid, a trailblazing Canadian artist who produced over 300 stunning floral still lifes and landscapes in the late 1800s.
Based in Toronto and New York City, Peacock is an author of prose, biography, and poetry, whose poems have appeared in The New Yorker and The Paris Review. The Washington Post said of Molly, “Whatever the subject, rich music follows the tap of Molly Peacock’s baton.” Come hear this captivating speaker bring an extraordinary artist lost to time back into vivid new life.
While you’re here, you can also wander the gardens and take in the new blockbuster exhibition, Impressionism 150: From Paris to Connecticut & Beyond, as well as Blooms with a View—our annual installation of floral arrangements inspired by works in the galleries and the historic Griswold House.
