Please use these guidelines to help you prepare for a successful day of painting at the Florence Griswold Museum.
RESERVATIONS: Please contact the Museum several days before you or your group wish to visit by calling the Education Department (David D.J. Rau, Director of Education & Outreach at (860) 434-5542, ext. 115 or via email at
david@flogris.org. Groups failing to reserve will be asked to leave and return at a scheduled time.
SIGN IN UPON ARRIVAL: Painters are asked to please sign in at the front desk of the Museum (located in the lobby of the Krieble Gallery). It is helpful to Museum staff to know which groups are on the grounds each day so that we may better serve all of our visitors.
HOURS OF OPERATION: The Museum grounds are open to the general public Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00 am-5:00 p.m., and Sunday 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. from April-December.
PARKING: Painters are asked to park in the far parking lot. This is the same lot used by the Museum staff. Please reserve the closest lot for our Museum visitors. The driveway north of the property is a fire lane and is NOT to be used for parking at any time.
FACILITIES: Restrooms are available for your use in the Krieble Gallery and Hartman Education Center (Sundays 1-5, and by chance during the week).
PAINTING ON THE VERANDA: Painters are asked NOT to paint on the stone patio nor the veranda that surrounds the Marshfield House and the Krieble Gallery.
WET PAINTINGS: Painters are NOT allowed to bring wet paintings into any of the Museum buildings with the exception of the Hartman Education Center.
NO PETS: Painters are asked NOT to bring their pets onto the Museum grounds during a painting session.
GALLERY ADMISSION: The Krieble Gallery and Florence Griswold House are available by admission tickets only. Tickets can be purchased at the Museum's front desk for $7 for adults, $6 for seniors (62+) and students, $4 for children ages 6-12. Museum members and children under age 6 are FREE.
